CHAPTER 2
"Way Down"

Unfortunately the Croc family have not been well regarded in the past. Whenever something goes wrong on the GollyGum River the family usually gets the blame.

For instance, there was the night when the Lizard Lads were walking home in the dark after spending the afternoon at the Skate Park. Suddenly a huge monster with an annoying laugh jumped out of the water and chased them along the river bank. The Lizard Lads ran so fast they dropped their skateboards. Next morning they discovered huge bite marks all over the boards and two of the wheels were missing. Of course, the Croc Family got the blame, although nothing was ever proved.

And then there was the other strange incident when the Dancing Dingoes were doubling each other on their new push bike. With a noise like a hailstorm, a blinding green streak burst out of the bush and grabbed the bike before disappearing into the river. The Dancing Dingoes were thrown high in the air by the impact. They couldn't make out what the green streak actually was, because they were still spinning in the air when it hit the water. But the next week the wheels were found washed up at the crossing, and something had chewed the tires completely off them. Once again the finger of guilt was pointed at the Croc Family.

Little Snippy, who loves her family dearly decided it was time to try to improve the image of the Croc Family. She wrote a song called "Way Down" which explained that crocodiles are not so bad really. She convinced her family to perform it in the park for the community. Quite a crowd turned out for the event, although they found it a bit hard to hear because they had all climbed up trees for security reasons. They didn't want to offend the Croc Family, so they pretended they were in the trees to get a better view of the performance and clapped very loudly at the end.
