CHAPTER 18 "Contemplating The Dangers of Excessive Passion"
He was doomed to lose. But another notable quality about Ratcop was that he did know when it was really and truly time to give up. For a start the pesky Dr. Beak had gone and tidied up the crash site, which ruined that argument.
And then the the twitty possums had gone and bought a new green car and didn't care about the red one at all. So if they weren't going to press charges, there was not much point standing around being lashed by Mumsie's brute logic.
But Mumsie had been put out. Sure she had won the argument once again with Ratcop, but something was definitely irritating her about the whole thing.
It wasn't so much that Crikey had gone mad and managed to wreck a new car. She thought that was fair enough and the car probably deserved it. No, it was more to do with the fact that the whole wretched affair had distracted her from her fishing.
So Mumsie thought some punishment was needed and decided to summons Crikey. Crikey would probably put up a his usual bit of resistance, but he knew that in general, it was not a good idea to disagree too strongly with Mumsie.
And there, dear reader we have to leave the story of Crikey and the Red Car. However,
I can reveal that Crikey did what he was told, and for a week or two led a very quiet life, patiently playing endless games of Monotony with Snippy. However, he seemed to be just a little too polite and cheerful for someone who was being punished.
This suspicion, combined with a faraway sort of twinkle in his eye has led to the general conclusion that young Crikey Crocodile is not totally cured of his passions and that sometime in the future there may well be more trouble brewing.
