CHAPTER 11
"Dr. Beak and Mumsie Talk Again"

It's plain to see that things weren't looking too good. Crikey Croc was out of control racing up and down the bush in the red car, beeping the horn and making up saucy Rock and Roll songs as he went.

Ratcop chased Crikey around for a while but the CopCar overheated and conked out. Meanwhile the Possums disappeared. Someone said they saw them heading up the road to the New Car Showroom.

Meanwhile Mumsie continued to sit by the GollyGum River and ponder the situation while in the distance Crikey drove past waving and beeping.

Dr. Beak was also a bit concerned about Crikey's uncontrollable new passion. He thought about some of the other passions that had gripped poor Crikey. One time he got passionate about hang gliding. He used to watch hang gliders launching themselves off The Lookout and gliding gracefully out over the coastline. Eventually they landed on the beach at Barnacle Bay.

Crikey's passion took over and he sneaked up to The Lookout scaring the wits out of a group of hangliders who ran off leaving their gliders on the launching pad. Crikey was so pleased he grabbed a few of them in his huge mouth, but overbalanced and fell off the edge of the launching pad and swung out over the cliffs below.

Because he had a mouth full of gliders Crikey floated high above the ocean. The wind took him so far out to sea that he could no longer see the land. Eventually his mouth became tired and he let go, falling into the ocean. It was such a long swim back to land that he was quite exhausted by the time he made it home to the GollyGum River. He had to sleep for three days to recover and for the first time in his life he won Snippy's game of Monotony. Crikey never went near hang gliders again.
