CHAPTER 1
"Life on the River"

Crikey Croc and the Croc Family live along the GollyGum River, way up north where the Bubsy Birds fly backwards and the Dancing Dingos play marbles with the Lizard Lads.

In charge of the family is Mumsie Croc who is huge but mostly harmless unless you go out of your way to be unpleasant. There's Snippy Croc who is the baby of the family but takes a deep interest in family affairs. She's always trying to get the others to play Monotony, which is a popular game about doing nothing at all and the winner is the first one to fall asleep.

There's Snappy Croc with a jaw that closes with a deafening snap. He is big and strong but snores very loudly and has an annoying laugh. And there's Crikey Croc who is always causing trouble for the family. It's not that he means to be bad, in fact he's a really nice friendly sort of crocodile. It's just that he suddenly gets very passionate about things and then goes and does something silly that he can't really help.

Life along the Gollygum River is usually quite peaceful and relaxing. Mumsie Croc spends most of her time sitting in a camping chair by the river with a fishing line attached to her black claw. I've never actually seen her catch anything, but she doesn't seem to mind and many times a day you can hear her singing happily to herself. She holds a good tune but can never think of any words to sing except 'fishing'.
